Doug Causey Lab

  

 I am finishing my senior year as an undergraduate at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA). I am completing my Bachelor of Science in Natural Sciences, with a minor
in Mathematics. I have currently begun working on research in Dr. Douglas Causey's lab looking at the presence, abundance, and type of microplastics in Arctic sea birds. This project will analyze tissue (i.e., stomach, intestines, etc.), utilizing an inverted microscope (Olympus FSX100) by using fluorescence observation to identify and quantify the presence of plastics.

I have plans to complete my Masters degree in ecology or biological sciences in the future after attempting to thru-hike the Pacific Crest Trail this upcoming summer. My other interests include hiking, backpacking, xc skiing, and being outside with my dog.
