Josephine Pickar

Josephine Pickar 2.JPG

I am a graduating National Exchange student from the University of Wisconsin Superior. I am a Biology major with a minor in Chemistry. This summer I completed an internship with the Department of Natural Resources in Minnesota, conducting state trail research and treating/surveying invasive plant species in the northern part of the state. I also had the opportunity to shadow wildlife biologist who were working on black bear research in Minnesota. Currently, I am working on conducting field-based presence and abundance surveys of salmonid fish of Portage Valley.

I plan to complete a masters degree program in wildlife ecology after I gain more experience through internships, volunteering, and other research opportunities.

Being able to attend school in both Northern Wisconsin and Anchorage, Alaska has been an invaluable experience. My hunger for adventure has only grown.
